A three-person household — one parent and two children — must generally keep gross monthly income under $2,866 to pass the program's income test, and the maximum monthly cash grant for that same household size is $387. Most applicants start the process online through the One DHS Customer Portal, but county offices still handle in-person applications, document drop-off, and the mandatory eligibility interview that follows. Because Families First ties cash aid to a signed Personal Responsibility Plan, local caseworkers also manage ongoing work-requirement check-ins after a case is approved, not just intake.
