Applicants who skip the online mnbenefits.mn.gov form can instead file a paper application (Form DHS-5223-ENG) with their local office, though everyone still completes a required interview afterward. To stay eligible, households must keep countable assets under $10,000, not counting one vehicle per household member age 16 or older. Most caregivers are also paired with a job counselor to build an employment plan, while caregivers under 20 without a high school diploma are generally directed toward finishing their education instead.
